Silver Jubilee of Nana Kwesi Brebo III, Chief of Kuntu and Nana Obo Montoa II, Queen Mother of Kuntu, December 2006

On December 2, 2006, chief Nana Kwesi Brebo III and queen mother Nana Obo Montoa II celebrated their 25th Anniversary as the stool of Kuntu.  The Silver Anniversary program began with a Memorial service for the  chiefs and elders that had departed since 1981.

The celebration included a procession of chiefs and elders through the village with chiefs carried in palaquins accompanied by drummers and dancing.  The highlight of the procession was Nana Brebo dancing in his palaquin.

Another highlight was the inauguration of the completed first floor of the new palace.  Construction began in 2005 but was halted due to lack of funds.  With donations from many contributors, including a major donation by  Kuntu Village Nkosohen Committee-USA, the ground floor, which includes the main reception room, was completed in time for the anniversary.

During my visit, the fish catch was one of the largest that anyone in Kuntu had ever seen.  They attributed the good fortune to my visit!
